Highlights from the Ministerial Visit
The Minister for Infrastructure & Sustainable Energy, Hon. Tekeua Tarati, and his team visited the Climate Change & Visitor Resource Centre at the salt water desalination facility in Temakin, strengthening the ongoing collaboration between the Government of Kiribati and Osmoflo, a world leader in Reverse Osmosis (RO) water technology.
During the visit, the Minister toured the desalination facility (currently in preservation mode) and was briefed on Osmoflo’s key roles in operating, monitoring, and maintaining desalination systems that ensure safe and reliable water for South Tarawa.
Osmoflo’s Officer in Charge, Mr. Stephen Palmer, also shared updates on capacity-building programs for national employees & PUB staff, empowering local teams to independently manage the facility in the future.

The Minister’s delegation also discussed the Temakin facility’s feed water issue, with the STWSP Project Manager outlining actions underway to resolve it.
Minister Tarati thanked Osmoflo for their excellent work and partnership, noting that he looks forward to sharing these positive developments in Parliament next month.
Together we can secure a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable water future for Kiribati.” – Hon. Tekeua Tarati
