Electricity tariff Collections

by | Oct 2025 | Public Notices

The prepaid meter rollout is progressing, albeit slowly!

This means that PUB is attending to outstanding debts with renewed vigour as we seek to transfer meters to prepaid. Our aim is to collect balances and have customers prepay for future electricity usage.

Customers are aware of amounts due and are thus aware if amounts are long outstanding. PUB still carries customer debts that are over 90 days old! This must be improved.

PUB staff will now approach customers with long outstanding debts and will provide three options:

  1. Settle outstanding amounts immediately
  2. Agree to a payment plan
    1. Payment plans will require overdue amounts to be settled within 3 months
    2. All current amounts must also be paid
    3. Payments should be made each fortnight, with agreed dates and amounts
    4. One default, and the account will be disconnected
  3. Disconnection until the account is paid in full

Customers are encouraged to update their accounts promptly to prevent unnecessary issues or disconnections. Any account that is disconnected will be given priority for prepaid meter transfer as soon as the meters are available. Following disconnection, full payment along with a reconnection fee will be required before services are restored. Payments not made promptly will be forwarded to the legal services division for collection and court actions if needed.

PUB appreciates customer understanding and seeks your help to help us help you and keep services strong.
