⚡ PUBLIC NOTICE: PLANNED POWER INTERRUPTION FOR ELECTRICAL TESTING
The Public Utilities Board (PUB) wishes to inform customers from USP Teaoraereke to Betio of a planned power interruption on Sunday, 11 October 2026.
This interruption is necessary to test Ring Main Units (RMU 17 and RMU 60) ahead of the planned diagnosis and repair of the Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) next week.
The testing will help PUB ensure that electrical switches are working properly and minimise the number of customers who will need to be disconnected during the upcoming AVR work.
📅 Date: Sunday, 11 October 2026
🕙 Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Areas affected and expected interruption times
- Betio customers: Up to 2 hours without electricity.
- Customers from Bairiki to Teaoraereke, including the USP Teaoraereke area: Up to 4 hours without electricity.
Please note that the interruption time will vary depending on the area. Power will be back to normal after the work is done.
PUB apologises for the inconvenience and appreciates your patience and understanding as we carry out these important tests to improve the reliability of our electricity services.
