PUB background Information


PUB is an acronym for Public Utilities Board, a State Owned Enterprise established on the 01th July 1977 under Ordinance No.5 of 1977 provided for the establishment for the Public Utilities Board for the performance of:


1.     Electricity generation, distribution and transmission, maintenance and improvement


2.     Water conservation treatment, distribution, maintenance and improvement of the water supply and equipment's


3.     Sewerage system comprising the maintenance of sewerage, collection, treatment and disposal facilities


The Ordinance gave PUB the sole and exclusive right to supply these services


There are 5 Directors on the Board, all of whom are appointed by the Minister for Public Works and Utilities. The Chief Executive Officer is an ex-official member of the Board but does not have the power to vote nor is regarded as a Board Director for the purpose of forming a quorum.
